PRESSURE WASHING & CLEANING

A good pressure washing will get rid of the grime that has built up on your deck or fence and, in most cases, return a lot of the natural brown color that you fell in love in when your deck or fence was just built. Sometimes using water only will not do the trick and an environmentally friendly cleaning product must be applied to the fence or deck before pressure washing to pre-treat or remove mold and deeply set in muck.

Below are a few commonly asked questions about Pressure Washing:

Frequently Asked Questions About Pressure Washing

What is a pressure washer?

Simply put, a pressure washer is a machine that uses water from your outside tap (via a standard garden hose) and ups the pressure so that you are able to remove grime and dirt from surfaces with a concentrated stream of water.

When should a fence or deck be pressure washed?

The best times to pressure wash are in the spring to get rid of the grime from winter and in the fall to remove the dirt and muck accumulation from the summer. Another important time to pressure wash is before applying water or UV sealer. Pressure washing can strip your deck or fence of protectants so it is always a good idea to plan to re-seal a few days after the wash.

Is pressure washing always what you need?

Pressure washing is NOT the answer for every fence and deck. You should opt for a lighter, less intense cleaning if your deck or fence is painted, very old, or in need of repair with visibly rotten areas.

Can you pressure wash decks or fences made from cedar?

Yes, even though cedar is a relatively soft material, with the right know-how, good results can be achieved. Have a composite deck? No problem, a good pressure wash will make it look like new!

WATER SEALING

See how that looks? With the water beading nicely on top? That’s what a properly sealed deck should look like! A fence or deck that is regularly sealed will last much longer than one that is neglected. Sealing should be done a few days after a thorough pressure washing when the deck has dried but before it has had too much time to get overly dirty again. Ask us about package pricing for cleaning and sealing – your deck or fence will thank you for it.

PAINTING AND STAINING

While the natural look is our favourite way to go, sometimes a deck or fence will need to be stained or painted. If you want your deck stained or painted, a thorough cleaning should be done first and often a light sanding will be required before getting down and dirty with the stain or paint. If you see a stained or painted deck in your future, we’re here for you.
